Stop Forcing Americans To Be Sitting Ducks!

Carson Holmquist, Petty Officer Randall Smith.  As the media continues to name the piece of garbage who pulled the trigger, I want to make sure the names of the five brave Americans who were gunned down by a radical Islamic terrorist are written, said and known.  May they rest in peace.  The devil on Earth who shot them is solely to blame for their deaths, but the fact that they were not allowed to carry firearms to at least try to stop him is indefensible. Many have reported that fmr President Bill Clinton put a measure in place the  restricted those on base or installation or recruitment centers from carrying their sidearms.  It was actually done in 1992 under the administration of fmr President George HW Bush.  It was then and is now unfathomably ridiculous. Think about this logically.  We recruit, train, arm, equip and send young men and women into the war zone.  They are some of the best trained people on the planet.  They know  how to handle and utilize weapons better than most of us can ever imagine to.  After all of that training and after they’ve served tour(s) of duty, defending freedom and liberty around the world, we welcome them home by rendering them defenseless.  We trusted them to defend the rights we hold dear yet tell them they are sitting ducks here.  It will never make sense.. none. I’ve seen the anti-gun crowd, from Juan Williams on Fox on down rush to any TV screen, radio microphone or Internet web site to exclaim situations like this wouldn’t happen if we simply restricted access to guns to everyday Americans.  When confronted with the logic that more good guys with guns would give us a fighting chance to actually deter if not stop bad guys with guns, they get angry and loud about how more guns only mean more people would be shot.  My response to them is always, “are you therefore advocating that we disarm our police officers in this land?”  They snicker and blow that direct question off as nonsense.  They have to react that way.  If they gave a real answer, they’d have to admit they are wrong. Think about it; who is advocating for more gun restrictions?  Gov Andrew Cuomo — protected constantly by good guys with guns.  Mayor Bill DeBlasio — protected constantly by good guys with guns.  President Barack Obama — protected constantly by good guys with guns.  Commentators on cable news channels — protected constantly by good guys at the studio with guns.  Rosie O’Donnell — has armed bodyguards.  Jim Carrey — movie sets are protected by good guys with guns.  It’s easy to be an anti-gun snob when you can rest assured you are protected.  Why couldn’t these brave military members have had the same assurance? Thankfully, many state governors are ordering their National Guard members to be armed on base.  It’s the right thing to do.  If you still don’t get it, ask yourself some simple questions: How many lives might have been saved had there been a good guy with a gun at Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, the Aurora theater, the AME Church in SC, the military facility this week et al?  Hard to answer.  One thing is for sure, they would have at least had a fighting chance. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families of those killed in this latest terrorist attack. Pags
