Flagging the Flaggers and the Myth That This President Doesn’t Want Single-Payer

It’s been quite a week.  The president continued on the campaign trail.  I guess no one in the administration has the heart to tell him he won the election and should now focus on doing the job.  This was the candidate who promised hope and change and a new way of doing business in Washington is not only business as usual, he’s most bad things we’ve faced out of the Oval Office on steroids.      I’ve already documented how the president has broken this promise he made on September 12, 2008 in Dover, New Hampshire:      “I can make a firm pledge.  Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” Ask your friend or neighbor or co-worker or loved one who smokes if that’s true as you ask them how it feels to pay the Obama instituted 61 extra cents per pack in increased taxes.  I’ve never checked.. but, I’ll bet a ton of smokers make less than $250,000.00 per year.  But, what do I know?      Then president Richard Nixon collected an “enemies” list and used a program called COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program) and when challenged over them, these acts were found to be unconstitutional.  What he would do is find out who was saying something against his policies or administration .. and go after those people trying to squelch their voices by using intelligence agencies to record the faces and voices of those deemed to be “enemies” of his administration.  He’d eventually turn the list over to the IRS.       If you mention that president to just about anyone, they’ll tell you how it was a horribly dark time in our history.  What Nixon did in compiling that list paled in comparison to what this president is doing.  Why?  Because this president has the power of the Internet and email which were non-existant (the internet was but, in a very small form) in the early 70s.  By imploring people to report “fishy” comment or claims or OPINIONS from anyone to a White House email address, this administration is using bully or intimidation tactics in an attempt to squash those thoughts, ideas, opinions and voices.  This, simply by even opening this ridiculous email address, I believe, is unconstitutional.      I realize many of you have sent emails there telling the government how you feel about such an attempt to strip you of your rights.  I have not.  You see, when you send correspondence to the White House, a record of it is kept.  So, even if this administration says it will not keep or log any of the emails it receives.. that’s just not true.      By the way, this controversial move by the White House seems to have come about after people like me started reporting to you about the president’s history of believing in and desiring a single-payer.  Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report posted a link to a speech by then Senate candidate Obama to the AFL-CIO.  Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpAyan1fXCE .. In the video the future president says: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that’s what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.”      In 2007, then candidate for president and then Senator Barack Obama said he envisions being able to eliminate employer based insurance in a decade or 15 years or 20 years.  These are his words, his ideas, his desires and now his administration is trying to shut down anyone and everyone who wish shine a light on what he himself has said.  It’s crazy. Thoughts?   j
